Designing your life? Buckminster Fuller said “most people spend their lives making a living rather than designing a life.” What do you hear for yourself in that statement? I hear that maybe all the stuff I learned growing up about how to be here with all of you, on planet earth, and survive might not be the only way or even the best way to do it. Google Bucky Fuller and see what an off the grid human he was and what you might learn from him and be able to apply in your life. Several years ago I started to design my life the way I wanted it. I am now single by choice, have a lot of great friends, a spiritual practice, two businesses where I decide who I will do business with, I workout everyday at lunchtime, I am a ski instructor…..and I live my life based on what I value. I live a life of choice and not one of obligation and for that I am grateful. I recently did a weekend seminar called “Money and You”. I did this seminar because I wanted even more freedom around money. The design of this seminar was heavily influenced by Mr. Buckminster Fuller. For my purposes the seminar could have been titled “You and Money”. One of the things I gleaned from the 3-1/2 days was to focus not on what is wrong or not working but on what I want to create in my life and in the world, to start now, from where I am, and not to be afraid to make mistakes. If you read about Bucky Fuller you will see that this is what he devoted over 50 years of his life to and on a grand scale. I have been coached on some of the of the same ideas for years but M&Y gave me new distinctions that add even more freedom to the process of designing my life and having it be a win - win situation for everyone. I discovered that I had been pretty selfish in my approach and that there is so much more freedom and joy in including others. Nothing wrong just more available. I can not speak highly enough of this Seminar. I will be recommending and offering a deep discount to my clients if they complete the M&Y Weekend. This is a win – win because they save some dough and I get a client who has just had one of the most impactful experiences of their life and they will come back to our coaching relationship lit up and motivated.
